Tonight I watched another episode of Educating Cardiff, which this time
followed a boy named Sean with Cerebral Palsy get the opening part in the school
play; while simultaneously telling the story of a young girl, Coral, whose single parent
dad is all she has. To me, following this episode compared to some others I
have seen was a complete game-changer at the way I looked at the series. These
weren't kids acting up to the camera, these were kids with real stories which
were a lot more touching than I'd have ever expected from the series.
This made me realise that when looking for contributors or characters for a factual piece, sometimes the best characters to follow aren't always the ones that are the most obvious and you may end up finding a great story if you take time to find out about many different people's lives.
