Jacqui Hayden from Matchlight visited us today in class. We began
by doing ice-breaking activities to create an original idea for a factual
television series by looking at the aspects of an already popular show and
finding the opposites. I found this a very practical and entertaining method of brainstorming ideas for new factual television shows and is definitely a method I shall keep in mind for future factual productions.
She became rather intimidating when not many people had
seen Matchlight’s latest production and jumped down our throats. Personally,
having watched several of Matchlight’s other productions in preparation for her visit - including the piece on Audrey Hepburn and Russell Brand - I
found this rather rude of her. Had she asked if anyone had watched any of their
productions and got no response, I could have understood her reaction, but she
only seemed interested in her one documentary that had aired 3 nights before. I guess in future, I shall ensure that I catch up on these latest shows through iPlayer or OnDemand services before meeting.
